Revisions
A Bariatric surgery revision may be necessary for some patients who had previous bariatric surgery.
There are two broad indications for bariatric surgery revision:
Complications After Previous Bariatric Surgery
Patients suffering from severe symptoms related to the initial procedure or patients that have anatomic changes to the procedure may require revision.
Failure of Initial Procedure
Patients who failed to lose adequate weight or achieve improvement in health despite making the necessary lifestyle changes may be candidates. Also, patients who have regained weight may be candidates.
Bariatric surgery revision procedures are more complex than initial operations and have a higher risk of complications. The decision to offer revision surgery is individualized based on the initial consultation. The nature of the revision procedure will depend on the initial procedure performed and the reason for considering the revision.
Patients interested in revision surgery should contact the office for instructions on how to proceed.
